Phone overview

The Shenzhen-based smartphone company introduced its latest Zero 8 smartphone. It comes with fast-charging for the 4400 mAh battery, as well as an aggressive price tag for its midrange specs and features. It arrives in three colors – Quetzal Cyan, Cosmic Purple, Shark Grey, and Midnight Black. There is one price tag for Zero 8 in Kenya as well for the different memory variants. The 128 GB Infinix Zero 8 costs Ksh. 28,500 in Kenya.

90Hz refresh rate

As a general rule, each year in the smartphone industry sees a new hyped feature. Just to explain what I mean, take the selfie camera for example. First, it was within a bezel, then we say notches, hole punch, and even pop up selfie cameras. And in 2020 the battle seems to be not only with the display but also their refresh rates.

The 90Hz refresh rate of Infinix Zero 8 is something to talk about, surely it is. As a matter of fact, the Zero 8 is the first Infinix smartphone to feature a higher than the normal 60Hz rate. Now 90 Hz refresh rate is the refresh rates at which the image redraws on the screen. Displays with a 90Hz refresh rate render images 90 times per second. The higher the refresh rate, the lesser is the motion blur, and the better the image quality.

Still focusing on the display, Infinix Zero 8 comes with a big and bright 6.85 inches IPS LCD display panel. Look, dear reader, I cannot even get over the fact that it is a 90Hz refresh rate. Seriously, Infinix has entered the A – league here. But moving on, this panel does not disappoint when it comes to the resolution. We see a high 1080 x 2460 pixels resolution with it and a rather detailed 392 PPI density. And you will also notice the hole punch wherein the dual selfie camera lies. More to follow.

Infinix Zero 8 Dual selfie phone

Just to paint the picture more clearly for you here. Here is a list of examples of phones with dual selfie cameras: Vivo v19OnePlus Nord, and Galaxy S10+. You see the caliber of smartphones we are dealing with here? So, for me to say Infinix Zero 8 is a top smartphone is not an exaggeration. We are glad to report that Infinix did not just slap some useless lenses herein to attract attention. No, nothing of that sort. On the contrary, you get a whopping 48 MP selfie, (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, and a second 8 MP ultrawide lens, how cool is that?

With these selfie camera, you can even shoot video at [email protected] and record in HDR. Again., how cool is that? See, video recording with the main camera has seen a boost from previous gen Zero smartphones. Infinix Zero 8 shoots videos in [email protected], [email protected] with gyro-EIS. It is unbelievable what you are getting here let’s all concede. This is courtesy of the 64 MP, (wide), 1/1.72″, 0.8µm, PDAF main camera – see also Redmi Note 9 Pro. What you also get is an 8 MP ultrawide lens, 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro), and a brilliant 2 MP, f/2.4, depth sensor.

We can first talk about the Mediatek MT6785 Helio G90T Infinix Zero 8 comes with. The MT6785 Helio G90T Series gets you fast and smooth action in your favorite games, through intelligent networking, rapid touchscreens, and vivid visuals – whole-device enhancements – that ensure your smartphone always keeps up with you – source. Doubtless, these are features one wants on his/her new smartphone don’t you agree? And Infinix Zero 8 not only promises the same, but it also delivers. We are talking about an increased multi-threaded performance up to 9%1  beyond direct competitors here.

Under the hood are an Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and a Mali-G76 MC4 which is an integrated high-end graphics card for ARM-based SoCs. As for storage, Infinix Zero 8 packs an expandable 128GB of internal storage with a whopping 8GB RAM. Yes, you heard that right, 8 GB of RAM. I mean, what more could you ask for? And all this is for an affordable price in Kenya. Now, the Infinix Zero 8 is powered by Android 10.

No, Infinix Zero 8 is not a 5G smartphone. But it does support 4G, 3G, and subsequently 2G. The phone makes use of Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS with A-GPS, FM radio and a 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. There is also a fingerprint scanner (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Check this out. As for the battery, Infinix Zero 8 is powered by a large 4500 mAh, non-removable battery with, and for the very first time ever, fast charging 33W. You know what that means right? You get more hours on a single charge, and less while charging. Well, may we conclude this article with the question, “What more can you ask for?”
